What is it all about?
A Grand Day Out is fun filled dog walking event raising money for The Kennel Club Charitable Trust and Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation. We are asking the nation to get together with their friends, families and colleagues to host their own dog walk to raise money for sick children and make a difference to dogs. It is really simple to take part just register for your free organisers pack and we will send you everything you need to organise your own dog walk.
We will also be hosting several fantastic dog walking events for you, your friends and family to attend nationwide! There will be a cracking Wallace & Gromit award for every dog taking part as well as loads of great treats for all the family. More details about our headline walks coming soon!
I don’t have a dog – can I still take part?
Of course! You do not need to have a dog to participate but if you would like some canine company why not come with someone else who has a dog or see if you can borrow a dog for the day from a friend, neighbour or rescue kennel? You can also sponsor Gromit on his very own walks by visiting www.virginmoneygiving.com/Gromit.
What happens at A Grand Day Out?
All dogs will be required to be walked on leads and there will be 3 trials for you to choose from at each venue, the walk distances will be 1.5k, 3k, and 5k with lots of fun for you, your dog and all the family at the finish line.
How much is it to take part?
We ask that you and your dog raise as much money as you can for our two charities beforehand, but if you wanted to just turn up on the day and take part then there is a £5 registration fee.
How do I enter?

Where is A Grand Day Out taking place this year?
This year we are asking the nation to organise their own dog walks so that everyone across the country can take part! Register for your pack today and we will send you everything you need to organise your own Grand Day Out. We will also be hosting A Grand Day Out walks at several National Trust properties across the country so keep an eye out for more details here! Don’t forget you can also sponsor Gromit to do the walks at www.virginmoneygiving.com/Gromit.
How much sponsorship do I have to raise?
There is no minimum fundraising target, we just ask that you raise as much as possible for our charities, via sponsorship and other fundraising methods. We will provide you with everything that you need including sponsorship forms and a guide to online fundraising, to help you every step of the way.
Where will my sponsor money go?
The sponsorship money will be divided equally between The Kennel Club Charitable Trust and Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation. Please go to the About Us page to see how each charity makes a difference.
Can I advertise the walk at my local business/dog training club?

Where can I get hold of more sponsorship forms?
If you think that you will be receiving a lot of offline sponsorship it is a good idea to photocopy the sponsorship form that comes in your fundraising pack before you write on it. We aim to encourage online sponsorship as much as possible as it saves paper demand and therefore helps to save trees in the world.
